Dan of the Dead update

Hi all loyal fans. Hope you're well?
I am free from the theatre I work at for 2 months!!! That's right 2 months. You know what that means?
Dan of the Dead goes back into full production.
This week I made the armature for our first Zombie. It's been sent to Daz for fabricating, he will also be adding his zombie head. Not long till you see a fully made up zombie!!! Can't wait for you all to see

Whilst at Daz's, he showed me The zombie skin he has been casting.

Ugly eh? Back at the studio I've cleared out the music video set and re-assembled the toilet set. Time to finish that off. Still a lot to do so I'll update soon.
I have decided to redo Dans hands. I was never completely satisfied with them. I am
Also looking at making silicone hands to sell on scope animations website.

Here are the hands sculpted. Before I build up the clay wall I am going to spray the hands with Crystal Clear to give it a film over the hands. This will stop me from making dints and dents in the plastercine when building up the clay wall.

I will update you more on this in the next blog.
In other news. I've been experimenting with gelatine and film blood. This is for blood splatters etc

Thats all for now. Hope you enjoy reading these blogs. More to come very soon. Keep checking and tweeting :-)

Zombie update

Hi guys
I'm sorry it's been a while but I've been really busy working on a music video for a record label Liquid Mindsett, the video is available to watch on YouTube here

Dan of the Dead is back in full production again!!! I hope to give a lot more updates to you all very soon. I have started to reconstruct the gents toilet set and do the finishing touches to it. In the meantime Darren will be adding the first Zombie head to my armature so he can fabricate and colour it.

Just to give you a few examples of how the zombies will look in Dan of the Dead. I have a few pictures of Zombies Darren has made up from previous films/tv episodes. I'm so happy to have such a talented guy on board!!!

That's all for now, keep checking back for more updates

Dan of the Dead/Website

Hi all
I have a few things to shout about today. Firstly, I am working on Scope Animations website. This is my company which is producing Dan of the Dead. It's not launched yet but there is a sneak peak at Dan of the Dead behind the scenes on the home page. Check it out
www.scopeanimation.webeden.co.uk
Secondly, today I have been to see Darren who is making the Zombies for a catch up and see where he's up to.
He was waiting for me to approve his Zombie head before priming it. Which he did while I was there

The zombie is ready for Daz to paint. But not until I give him a new armature. The one I gave him turned out to be slightly small from the waist to neck. Also the arms could do with being longer. I shall work on them this week and pass it back to him for full fabrication and painting. Here are a few shots of the finishes zombie head primed

That's all for now. Please keep checking this blog and let everyone else know about it. Dan of the Dead T-Shirts are coming soon folks
Bye for now

Dan of the Dead Video

Hi guys,
I'd like to say thank you for your continued support on this project. It's starting to get the coverage I think it deserves. Recently we have been featured on www.animateclay.com one of the most viewed websites for people in Stop-Motion Animation. My thanks go out to Marc Spess, awesome dude!!!
I recently did a Stop-Motion talk to Middleton Rotary Club. Rotary has had some great press recently on the BBC for almost eradicating Polio in 3rd World Countries.
This was a good evening to show everyone "Dan of the Dead", So I did... with a video slide to capture the project perfectly. I wanted to post the video on here but YouTube are being funny about the music I chose for the slide.
I'll try and sort it out soon
Thanks again for your continued support
Pete

The Zombies are coming!!!

Hi all, I'm back on my blog and I'm trying my best to keep it up to date and try and inspire other animators!!!
"Dan of the Dead" is picking up some speed! I can now welcome on board one of the best sculptors I've ever come across, Darren Longthorne.
Darren is a massive fan of the zombie films and has passed on his years of zombie knowledge to me.
He is also designing and sculpting all the the zombie characters for the project.
I went to see him earlier this week and he's already made a start on the first one. I hope you realise from the pictures this is just a snippet of what Darren is capable of doing... Think of zombies heads exploding and intestines spilling out of the ribcage... He'll be doing them all. Making the zombies as gruesome as possible.
Here is his first sculpt after 4 hours work, still lots to finish of and detail to be added, but I'm sure you can see where we are going with this project

I can't tell you how excited I am by this project. Please keep visiting, and more importantly, share it with all your friends.
Here is a link to "Dan of the Dead" very own fan page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dan-of-the-Dead/368784569815635
go on... Click on the "like" button :-)
Speak very soon guys

Dan of the Dead Poster

I must apologise for the lack of postings recently. I have been so busy working in the theatre business that animation has been compromised. Thing is... The theatre work funds the animation.

Well I'm back and working hard on getting Dan of the Dead pilot made. Here is a quick poster for the film

There is plenty more to follow so please keep checking. Sorry again.

Keep animating

Costume has arrived!!!

Hi everyone. This is just a very quick post to let you all know "Dan of the dead" now has a fancy costume

Provided by Hillary at the Sewing Room Northwest Ltd. She has done a superb job. She even made a replica as the pilot I'm working on will be shot again when filming the whole film. This film is going to be shot in order of scenes which isn't ideal, but because of blood splats being added as the film goes on, the continuity wouldn't be right if I didn't shoot it in order

That's all for now. I'm thinking of finishing the gents toilets set next. Keep checking in guys
